Frequently Asked Questions
How are electromagnetic locks and backup power configured for UAE fire and emergency safety?
In compliance with UAE Civil Defense life-safety standards, electromagnetic locks on designated emergency egress routes are configured in a **fail-safe** mode: when power is removed, the lock de-energizes and unlocks immediately. The power supply units are interfaced directly with the building's central Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) via a dedicated emergency relay: when an alarm triggers, power to the locks is severed instantly, releasing the doors regardless of whether the system is running on mains power or battery backup. Furthermore, an independent physical emergency break-glass unit is installed adjacent to each door to permit manual emergency override. During utility power interruptions without a fire alarm, a 12V rechargeable battery backup maintains authorized access until primary power is restored.
Can access control cards be used for biometric attendance as well?
Yes. Many of our ZKTeco and Suprema terminals combine access control relays with attendance time logging, allowing staff to use a single card or face scan for both door entry and daily attendance.
